Presentation Title: “Cross Country Bicycle Ride”

Temecula residents and ASQ member Ric and Anne Van Der Linden have seen more ups than downs in their 25 years of marriage. In celebration of their silver anniversary, the two decided to take their success story on the road, in a way they are most comfortable – from the seats of their tandem bicycle.

They have distance biked on their tandem bike for many years and often discussed riding across the United States of America.

Last year, Ric and Anne Van Der Linden decided this would be the year to bike across the country and celebrated their 25 years of marriage by riding across the US on their Tandem bicycle to promote lasting marriages.  They rode from Oceanside, CA to York Town, VA.

Their tour began on June 27, 2015 from Oceanside California and ended in York Town 47 days later.

When asked about their marriage, Anne said, “I think we tried to make it easy on each other. We don’t try to make each other’s lives difficult, but instead, try to look at the other person’s needs.

They plotted their course for the ride, using a combination of the Trans American route and Race Across America route.

During the 7 week journey, they pedaled for 40 days and here are some of the numbers:

Total miles riding: 3,360
Total hours on the bike: 235
Total elevation gain (feet): 152,868
Total dog issues: 11
Total calories burnt: 320,000
Total states visited: 9
Total flat tires: 5

Come join us on March 17, 2016 at 6:00pm as we hear Ric and Anne share their pictures and stories as they crossed the US. The route they took will be shared during the presentation so those of you with similar desire can take a trip like this!!

This lively training presentation teaches how to use all six – yes, six! – senses when conducting external conformity assessments or internal QMS audits, in order to maximize the gathering of objective evidence, and to ensure the highest level of confidence in the final audit results.
This eye-opening and invaluable discussion will give even seasoned auditors a new perspective, and will help improve the audit experience not only for clients, but also dramatically reduce problems with Certification Body internal review committees and Accreditation Bodies.
As a clinic participant, you will:
The “angle of perception” used by auditors, and how to expand it using the “missing senses” to soak up evidence like a sponge.
Learn how auditees hide nonconformities in plain view, based on predicted auditor behavior.
Never again have your audit findings challenged because of weak evidence.
