The Curse of Uncertainty

Jack B. ReVelle, Ph.D.

In a world where uncertainty prevails, there exists a collection of professionals who are ideally-suited and well-prepared to lead. In this presentation, Dr. ReVelle surveys what is expected of quality engineers, how they are prepared, where uncertainty is found, challenges quality engineers face, and the statistical orientation quality engineers receive. Finally, Dr. ReVelle examines data, processes and statistical thinking, concluding with a review of diagnostic and prescriptive tools used by quality engineers to overcome the curse of uncertainty.
